Graduate students in psychology can receive two types of training experiences in our office:
Eight or more hours per week. Extern will have individual clients and work in conjunction with a team on other cases. Forensic work is included. The extern can expect to gain experience writing letters for court purposes as well as gain experience working with children and high conflict families. Supervision is typically one group supervisory hour and one individual hour per week. The extern is expected to be at the office from 12 to 8 pm one day per week.
The internship is one year post doctorate. The position involves half time clinical work with Child & Family Psychological Services, PC and half time research work for the Foundation for Child and Family, Inc. The intern can expect to have a caseload of both clinical and forensic cases. All interns to date have had court experience, although this can not be guaranteed. The research work involves management of data and other research activity related to the Foundation’s projects in the field of child abuse and neglect. Hours are flexible, but at least two evenings until eight pm are required.
